Third Trimester Maternity Favorites

Hey all,

Wow, as I'm spending more and more time with my feet up, I'm kind of getting back on the blogging train.  Not sure what will happen when little miss comes (actually.... you and I both know that blogging will be put on the back burner), but I'm glad to get in a few good posts.

Today I'm going to share some of my maternity wear favorites.  My "showing" phase was pretty much all throughout winter, which makes it hard to find pieces that work for both pregnant and non pregnant bodies.  Not a lot of versatility with winter maternity wear.  Now that it is Spring, I've had a slightly easier time dressing the bump ginormous belly.

My biggest piece of advice: maternity jeans and leggings are your friend!  I wanted to hold out as long as I could, and I did...which was dumb!  Being all, "Yay! I can still wear my pre-pregnancy jeans at 30 weeks" impresses no one.  The rubber band trick works, but the waist of your pants still cut into your sides more than you realize.  A preggo muffin top aint cute.  The second I tried on maternity jeans and leggings, I realized how silly it was to wait so long!  The key is being comfortable while not looking like a total slob.

So here are some of my favorites:

1.) Scarves

These have been a total necessity for me.  I have a few basic long and short sleeve t-shirts and tanks. You can change up your look by accessorizing with different colored scarves and make it look like a totally different outfit.  Bonus: the scarves aren't only maternity.  Old Navy has some super cute ones for Spring here.

2.) Gap Pure Body Long Sleeve Tee

Oh man, I have gotten so much mileage out of these.  I wore them under loose cardigans with leggings in the winter, and they pair well with flip flops and jeans in the Spring.  There are so many different ways you can dress up a plain, long sleeve tee.  They are also thin enough for layering without making you super hot.  Find them here.

3.) Hanes No Underwire Bras

The biggest mistake I made was running out and buying a few new (nice) bras as soon as my size got a little bigger.  What I didn't know was that there was more changing coming my way.  I really like these bras because they're stretchy, cheap, you can find them at Target, and they grow a little with you.  These are some of my favorites.

4.) Old Navy Jersey Lounge Pants

These sweats are THE BOMB.  Seriously.  They are thin, which is awesome when you're a hot, pregnant oven all the time. They are also insanely comfy, with a nice, wide waistband.  I have already dubbed these my postpartum pants.  Find them here.

5.) Old Navy Denim Jacket

This is part of my "maternity uniform" during these last few weeks.  This jean jacket is not only affordable, but it's a little stretchy, so the sleeves are really comfy.  I wear this over pretty much everything, and love it for Spring. Buy it here.

6.) Charming Charlie Mom + Baby Elephant Necklace

Elephants have kind of been a theme in the nursery (I hate to say that because I really don't like "themey" nurseries).  The reason that I love Ellie-phants will become apparent when our little girl arrives. :) I typically don't care for their chains, the gold color wears off pretty easily, so I replaced the chain with a better gold one, and I'm absolutely loving it.  Find it here.

7.) Old Navy Maternity Legging 2 Pack

Again, super cheap, and SO worth it.  I was trying to wear my old leggings for the longest time, and putting these on was a serious breath of fresh air.  I had no idea how uncomfortable my old leggings were until I put on these babies.  They're cheap, they hold up well, and the wider waistband is so much more comfortable.  Find them here.

8.) Old Navy Maternity Tee Shirt

Are you sensing a theme here?  Basically, Old Navy has the best maternity clothes for insanely cheap prices.  I'm not into spending Nordstrom or J. Crew prices on something that I will only wear temporarily.  These tees have awesome gathering on the side to show off the bump just enough and not give you that dreaded "tent effect."  Find them here.

9.) Old Navy Maternity Empire Hoodie

Speaking of getting a lot of mileage out of something.  Wow... There is really nothing else to say besides this is a great investment. Buy it here.

10.) Target C9 Performance Yoga Pant

Another staple in my "maternity uniform." As my bootie has grown, these are 10 times comfier than wearing real pants.  Cute top, soft yoga pants (that aren't cotton-y, so they don't fade wash after wash), scarf, jean jacket, leather sandals. Now you look acceptable. You're welcome.  Buy them here.

11.) Old Navy Maternity Rib-Knit Jersey Tank

Stock up on these.  They're only like $8, and they hold up extremely well in the wash.  Buy them here.

12.) Target Mossimo Cami

These aren't maternity, but if you size up, you will have plenty of room for your ever growing belly.  I like that these can be worn after you deliver.  The top is low cut and loose enough to become a nursing tank.  The shelf bra will hold in your nursing pads.  Lovely.  Buy them here.

That's all I have for now.  What are your maternity favorites?

April Favorite Things

Hey guys!

I thought I'd bring back a few Favorite Things for the month of April!  I've been super pregnant and lazy, so obviously, blogging has taken a backseat.  (It's not like blogging takes any physical effort, but you know what I mean).

Anyways, lets get to it!

1.) Talenti Gelato

Holy cow, I'm slightly obsessed with this stuff.  Sure, they say gelato is supposedly less crappy for you than ice cream, but I don't know if I buy it.  Either way, there are so many delicious flavors.  The Mediterranean Mint and Dark Chocolate flavors are my favorite, but then again...I love the Black Cherry too.  Hell, they're all amazing.

2.) Ebates

Ok, yes... I know this has been around forever.  I've totally been living under a rock.  If you shop online, and you don't do Ebates, you're SERIOUSLY missing out.  Since getting ready for baby T, I've done a lot of shopping online and that few percent seriously adds up.  Who doesn't love getting a check?  Sign up here.

3.) The Last Man on Earth

This is seriously one of the funniest shows ever.  I'm so surprised that there isn't more buzz about it. The only word of warning I will give you, is that you have to start it from the very beginning.  You will enjoy the episode if you start in the middle of the series, but not NEARLY as much if you get it from the beginning.  I totally pictured a depressing set up with Will Forte being the "last man on Earth," but it is totally the opposite.  Absolutely hilarious. Mondays on Fox.

4.) Shopkick App

I recently discovered Shopkick app, and it's AWESOME.  It basically pays you to run your daily errands. You just open the app before or while you're in the store, and you get points.  You can also get points for scanning selected items, but you don't have to do this.  When you reach a certain number of points, you can cash them in for gift cards.  So far, I've gotten a few Target gift cards for $2 a piece. For just opening an app on your phone, it's worth it to me to save a few dollars.  I can always use that money towards a latte from Starbucks. :)

5.) Sharpie Pen Buy It Here

This is my HG of pens.  I've been writing a TON of thank you cards, and this pen is amazing.  It doesn't bleed, doesn't smear, and doesn't stink.  I don't know how else it can get more perfect. It also comes in a variety of colors if you feel like being fancy.

6.) Gyft App

This is another app that I absolutely love.  With all of the baby showers, I've gotten a ton of gift cards.  Inputting all of them into Gyft ensures that you don't forget or lose any gift cards, and it's a great way to make sure you always have them.  It's a free app that will even update your totals automatically, so you always know how much you have left on the card.  Love it!

7.) Costco Pesto

I like to make my own pesto...sometimes.  It's easy to freeze, blah blah blah....but this is even easier. It's honestly better than the pesto I make, and doesn't dirty up my food processor.  Having some of this on hand makes quick dinners super easy.  I just threw it together with some rigatoni, heirloom tomatoes, artichoke and parmesan.  Delicious!

8.) Humans of New York on Facebook

I feel like this has the same feel that Postsecret did, but is an updated version. For a super-snoop like me, I'm always interested in hearing people's stories.  This page really shows you that you can't judge a book by its cover.  Do yourself a favor and like "Humans of New York" on Facebook.  So interesting and often, uplifting.

9.) L'Oreal Colour Riche Lip Balm

I typically don't wear lipstick or lipgloss because my lips dry out so quickly.  Once Maybelline stopped making new Color Whispers, I needed something else.  The L'Oreal has an amazing creamy, consistency, but is sheer.  I don't like to really pile on the color, so this is perfect for the warmer months.  I really like the shade, Caring Coral.  Not too bright, but enough to notice.

Alright, so that's all I have for now.  What are some of your favorites for April?
