What I've Been Up To

Hey guys!

It's been a while, and I'm finally nearing the end of my pregnancy!  Whoo hoo!  I thought I'd give you a little update about what I've been up to.  A lot of these pictures are from my Instagram (@beautyandthegreek), which I update waaay more often than the blog. So, sorry if a lot of these are repeats.

In January, George and I went to Hawaii.  George had a conference, and it was the perfect time for a "babymoon."  I was 28 weeks pregnant and still feeling pretty good.  We were at the Fairmont in Waimea on Maui.  It was pretty amazing.  We went on a whale watching tour, which was probably my favorite part of the entire trip.  There were a ton of whales, and we even saw a few calves.  I have a short video on my Instagram, but I mostly just watched in person and didn't worry too much about getting great pictures.

After our "babymoon," I had my 26th birthday in February and had three baby showers.  It is INSANE how much baby stuff you "need."  One of my absolute favorite things that I got at one of my showers was an ABC book.  Each guest drew a page for each letter of the alphabet.  Everything was compiled into a scrap book at the end.  So cool!

All of my relatives are so creative!

I've been doing a lot of cooking lately.  Meal planning certainly makes it easy to make healthy meals on the fly.  With the warmer weather, we've been using our grill, and I forgot how much better things taste from the grill.  I could experiment with marinades, chicken, shrimp and fish alllllll day.  I'm looking forward to having a beer on the deck, grilling out, and enjoying time with the bambino all summer.
Homemade Tomato Soup with Spinach Artichoke Bread

Grilled chicken salad with avocado, herbed goat cheese, apples, cucumber, and fruit balsamic dressing

Mahi with brown rice, fresh guacamole, pico and diced mango

One thing I also started doing was making a "food journal."  I basically just have a notebook that I record whenever I cook something.  I put a star by the things that are our favorites.  This makes it easy to look back and say, "We haven't had this in a while," and it gives me ideas when I'm stumped. Sometimes, I totally forget about recipes that I really enjoyed.

As far as pregnancy goes, I've been feeling pretty good.  Nothing compares to the misery that I was in during the first trimester.  Really... the puking is horrible.

Took some time last week to get a massage and my toes done.  The foot rub was HEAVENLY!

I'm starting to get a little swollen but can still wear my wedding ring.  If I spend a lot of time on my feet, I get sausage toes and cankles, but that's ok.  I'm making multiple trips to the potty in the middle of the night, but I better get used to getting up throughout the night.  :)  I almost don't mind it because I know that it is training me for what is to come.

This is me at 35 weeks.  Currently, I'm at 37 weeks!  Time is flying!

I plan on doing a post once I get the nursery totally finished.  I did some preview pictures that were posted to Instagram the other day.  I still feel like I need to add some final touches.

So, that's what I've been up to!  Looking forward to meeting our little girl and enjoying Spring!

  1. What a cute shower idea and how special for your little girl to be able to look back on that once she is old enough to realize just how special it is. Good luck in your last few weeks! I'm sure you've read pinterest articles before but truly nothing you can ever read will ever prepare you for what you are about to experience. Yeah there are all the hard challenging things that come with being a mom but you will never experience anything as great as what you will feel when you look at your child's face!!

  6. Yay an update! You look great! Your pregnancy really did fly by. I feel like it was yesterday that you announced you were expecting. The food looks so good! Grilling is always more fun. Too bad it is still 30 degrees here in NYC!

  9. You look astonishing and I can dare to dream I'll look that great amid my third trimester. Cherish the possibility of a sustenance diary. Extraordinary approach to get thoughts of what you like when you are deadened in the kitchen.
