Holiday Recap + 25 Week Bump/Blimp-shot

Hey all!  Happy New Year!  George and I had a pretty great Christmas, and now I'm ready to take on 2015!  Lately, I've been in my typical "I must clean and organize everything" phase.  But combine that with pregnancy nesting...and I'm going cray-cray.  P.S. We still have NOTHING for baby except a few cute outfits.

Anywho...here are some pics of our holiday season.

Gracie loved hanging out in front of the fire, we eventually moved her doggy bed, and she was in hot dog heaven.

This was our first year with a big tree, so I'm missing a lot of things like a topper and garland, but I thought it was a decent start.

George and I went to New York City the week before Christmas and had a BLAST.  The weather was between 30's and 40's, so it was very comfortable to walk around.  George had a conference, so I was on my own for a few of the days, but I still was able to meet him for lunches.

Picture in front of the tree.  2009 and newly dating, then 2014 and married and pregnant.  Notice how George just gets cuter as the years go on... not fair!

I mean speaking of cute.  This guy knows how to layer :)  George lived in NYC for a short time, so between that and google maps, we never looked too much like confused tourists. Haha

So while we were in New York, I got a scary call from our dog sitter.  She was sitting for another dog as well, and she ran out to run an errand for about a half hour.  It turns out that the other boarded dog hopped or broke down whatever gate was dividing them and attacked Gracie.  She was in really rough shape, and it just broke our hearts.  Thank goodness this happened near the end of our trip.  We couldn't get home soon enough.  She is well on her way to making a full recovery.

Our poor baby's neck.  She had at least 50 bite wounds all over her body and several deep punctures on her little bottom.  Thankfully, she is not scared of other dogs, and after some time, has made a total 180.  It was absolutely devastating to see her in so much pain.  She was such a trooper with all of the sutures and staples.  Thanks SO much to all of you that left well wishes on my Instagram (@beautyandthegreek).  They were greatly appreciated!

After we got home, I went on a huge baking frenzy and made 5 different kinds of cookies.  It was nice to spend most of the day cozy in the house with Gracie while she recuperated.  I made: Raspberry cheesecake thumbprint cookies, Peppermint sugar cookies with homemade peppermint cream cheese icing, Magic peanut butter middles (my favorite), Cranberry bliss cookies, and Double decker chocolate peanut butter fudge.  All of the recipes are on my Pinterest board "Christmas Cookies" here.

On Christmas Eve, George and I drove around and left cookies at our neighbor and family member's doorsteps.  I didn't get super fancy with my packaging, but there's always next year. :)

George and I had a quiet Christmas morning, just the two of us.  It was wonderful  We had been running around between family functions, so it was great to just have some time alone.  He got me this adorable ornament that just about pushed me to pregnancy tears. Haha.  I mostly got maternity clothes this year, which was EXACTLY what I asked for and needed.  I also got a few beauty items, books, prenatal massage gift certificates and other goodies.

My parents came to Peoria the weekend after Christmas, and we had such a great time.  I told them that next year they need to come BEFORE Christmas so they can help me bake and watch my baby. :)

Speaking of baby...here is a belly update.  I took this picture in the Target dressing room to send to my friends.  They both agreed that by the end of this, I will tip over.  So here is my bump blimp shot at 25 weeks.

She's definitely doing some growing!

Until next time!

  3. Oh my goodness, what a scare with your Gracie! I'm so glad to hear that she is doing fine. I can't even imagine how scary it was to receive that phone call.

Great tree pic! We live outside the city and say that we don't want to be anywhere near the tree. Having said that, we saw it three times this year, ha!

  4. You both look better with age in that NYC picture! I am beyond jealous of your kitchen and all the counter space for cookies. My kitchen would be a wreck it I tried to make more than a batch of cookies. I'm glad to hear Gracie is feeling better. Breaks my hear to see animals hurt.
