And I'm Back!

Hey all!

Wooooah, it has been forever.  I'm so happy to be back in blog land!  It's nice to finally have the itch back! (Not that itch)

So for those of you who follow me on Instagram (@beautyandthegreek), you already know that I'M PREGNANT!  WHOOO HOO!!

George and I are so happy to announce that our little one will be arriving sometime around April 12th.

So that officially puts me at about 12 weeks and a few days along.

Many have asked how I'm feeling, and to answer that bluntly... pretty crappy. The nausea and vomiting train hit me pretty hard at about 6.5 weeks and kept chugging along until, well...now.  Every time I tell someone that the vomiting is slowing down, I spend the rest of that night puking my guts out.

My OB's office is pretty much against Zofran unless it's absolutely needed, so I've been taking Diclegis (which is worthless), with some Zofran thrown in when I can't keep clear liquids down.

It's been a real joy, lemme tell ya.

I am SO looking forward to not feeling sick morning, noon, and night.  I can't wait to be able to exercise and maybe feel like myself again. I miss being hungry too.

Anyways, I just wanted to do a quick update and share the awesome news!  I'm planning a few posts that will include our months leading up to pregnancy and how getting pregnant isn't as easy as everyone says it is, I have a few "bumpdate" bleh...I hate that word...pregnancy updates, and some other general stuff.

Thanks to everyone who has emailed me lately wondering where the heck I was. :)  Now... I want to know...

When did your morning sickness stop? Any words of advice?

  2. Oh gosh, I know the feeling of being so sick! I lost so much weight the first few months of my pregnancies. Zofran didn't even really help that much, so don't feel bad about not taking it as much. I still took it though, the entire 9 months :(
Hope it goes away for you soon...

  6. With my first it was when the second trimester came BUT with my second it was well into my second trimester it stopped. For the second it was the worst at night. When I went to bed it felt like I had a few drinks and the room would just spin! Good luck and hope that sickness goes away. I am sure you had heard of preg pops they worked wonders for me!

  8. Congrats! Hopefully you will start to feel better in a few more weeks. The first trimester was brutal. Once I was a few weeks into the second trimester everything started to turn around and I felt great!

  10. That is awesome news....congrats and welcome back!!!

Hopefully your sickness will go away soon and you can start feeling "normal" again.

Get as much sleep in that you can. Those first few weeks for me I was just so tired all the time.

  11. I never had morning sickness with either of my kiddos, so I can't really relate! I can totally relate on how it's not so easy to get pregnant!! Our first was an 'oopsie' from vacation so I thought when we decided we were ready for number 2 it would happen right when I snapped my fingers. Definitely NOT the case! I swear while we were trying everyone and their dog posted their announcements on FB/IG and I was so upset about it since it still hadn't happened for us. That was a year ago and now I have a happy and healthy almost 4 month old (along with my monster toddler who is 2.5 - I kid... only a little :)). I'm so glad that it worked out for the two of you as well!! Are you going to find out the gender??

  15. Congrats! I kinda wondered if that's why you were MIA, lol...I have three girls are had horrible morning sickness with all. With my first I lost 13 lbs:( What worked for me? Gatorade, I couldn't stand the thought of water. Also, my doc had me take 1/2 of a Unisom pill along with a vitamin B6. I took this at night and it helped SO much with the puking. I also would eat something every 1.5 hours or so. Even if it was just a cracker, when my stomach started growling I would cry because I knew I had to eat something...Hang in there!

  17. CONGRATS!!!! I'm pregnant as well.....and my morning sickness stopped as soon as I entered the 2nd trimester! It was INSTANT RELIEF!! I didn't have much vomiting but the nausea was insane. Maybe you could try sea bands.....they kinda worked for me but by the time I purchased them it was too late because I was out of the first trimester and feeling better!

  20. Congratulations! I'm just a couple weeks ahead of you in my pregnancy and once I got to the 2nd trimester it got 100x better! Honestly, I started feeling like a completely different person just before 14 weeks! I hope the same goes for you!

  21. Peppermint and ginger essential oils were the only thing that helped me and I was sick for 7 months!!

  22. This may sound crazy -- but the smell of lemon zest used to instantly take away my nausea. It would only work for a little bit, so I used to carry around a lemon in my bag. Ha! I also started using lots of lemon in my water. Congrats!

  23. I was good after about 14 weeks. Hang in there! The end is tough by the majority of my pregnancy after the morning sickness was really enjoyable! I just had my daughter Aug 28 so just went through all of this craziness. Good luck! Are you finding out the gender?

  24. Im so happy you're back!!! Missed you! That is so awesome about the baby! Can't wait to follow along with your pregnancy. Hope it gets better! Random ?: what's the reason for no zofran with your OB? Just curious.

  25. So glad to see you are back, friend!! I've missed you and I'm so happy for you and George :) I hate hearing that you're feeling so bad, but for some reason I was thinking you might be pretty sick!! Hope it gets better for you soon.

  26. Congrats and so excited for you!! Sorry you're so sick!! I had the all day nausea with some vomiting the first time around and it didn't go away until about 15 weeks and once I could eat normal again I felt better by week 20. I hope you're in the home stretch and start feeling good soon!

  27. Congratulations!!! I had 24/7 sickness & Zofran helped but not 100%. I ended up in the ER one afternoon because I huged the toilet all day long and was dehydrated. It hit me around week 7 and lasted to around 27-28 weeks. I tried every thing but nothing helped. All I could drink was water & unsweet decaf tea. I pray you feel better soon.
