What I've Been Up To: Five on Friday

Hey all!  It's Friday, and I'm super excited.  My parents are coming to P-Town for Mother's Day weekend.  We're planning on putting them to work by doing some stuff around the house. :)  HOPEFULLY, we get our irrigation system installed soon, which means grading, which means SOD.  Seriously, I can't wait to have a yard.

Anyways... here is what I've been up to. (Spoiler Alert: NOT running haha)

[ONE]

I've very slowly been decorating the house.  I'm so psyched that I was able to find this mirror from Wayfair that fits perfectly above the fireplace.  The best part? It was only $80!

My awesome coworkers from my Indianapolis hospital threw me an amazing going away party.  The theme was white trash, and many coworkers came in their PJ pants.  The "Scabies aint nasty!" T shirt is a long story.  It may or may not be what some girl was yelling at her boyfriend in the ER.  I had a pit bull temporary tattoo that I had been saving for just the right moment.  What a better occasion that my party?

I have been loving these super duper easy dinners.  Toast + turkey bacon + fried egg (I like my center a little runny) + tomato + avocado + homemade tzatziki = party in your mouth.  Add in some sweet potato fries, and I'm in heaven.  Yum!

Spring has sprung in Peoria, and I'm in the mood to plant some stuff!  I ended up planting some oregano, cilantro, and basil in my kitchen window.  I have yet to actually use any, but I'm excited to make some caprese salads with the basil I already have growing in my kitchen.  It's also a bonus that it's SO close to a water source!  I have no excuse for killing them off.

[FIVE]

George and I had a very impromptu Cinco de Mayo party on Monday.  We actually decided that we were going to do it the night before, so I was kind of scrambling to get stuff together.  I think it all turned out ok, and we all certainly had a great time.  The fact that there is a lime shortage kind of cramped my style, but besides that...Mexican food is super easy party food.

So that's what I've been up to lately!  Make sure you check back on Monday to check out my Pottery Barn knock-off guest room.  I'd say I found some pretty great dupes.

Have a wonderful weekend!

  1. LOL at the theme they did for your party - priceless!! I love egg/tomato/avocado sandwiches too so yummy! I too planted basil and it's on my windowsill in the kitchen, it's basically impossible to kill - thank goodness because I don't have a green thumb!
    Happy weekend!!

  7. Stopping by from the link up and fell in love with your blog when:
A.) said in your description "you can find me at Target" and
B.) used one of my favorite phrases to describe delicious food "party in your mouth".

I think you just became a new favorite - finding you on BlogLovin right now! Happy Friday!!

  8. Great idea to plant the herbs on your windowsill - I am going to steal that. Last year I left them near a window in our breakfast nook and forgot to water them. Fail.

Your fireplace decor looks fantastic. Love it!
