Take 5, on Friday

Hey guys!  It's Friday, and I'm finally starting to crawl out under my mountain of tissues and cough drops and feel like a human being again.

So lets just get to my 5. Here are some things that only take 5 minutes or less, and make your life so much easier.

[One]

Back up your blog.  Can you believe I've never done this?  How much would my life suck if it all somehow got lost?  I would probably have an insane meltdown which would most likely lead to some sort of court ordered anger management.  It's my new goal to do this weekly.

Click here for a simple step by step guide.

Those glass doors will be the death of me
Clean your bathroom. Seriously, 5 minutes of wiping stuff down helps SO much. I try to take 5 minutes (I set a timer on my phone because I'm a child) and see how much I can get done in 5 minutes.  I know it sounds ridiculous, but it works.  Doing this every few days helps keep soap scum off your tile and saves you so much work down the road. I will admit, I've been slacking this week.

Clean up your inbox.  For some reason, I'm awful at this one.  I let junk emails pile up, and never get around to either addressing them or deleting them.  (For the blog: I try to reply to everyone's comments via email, so make sure you're not a "no reply blogger.") Also, going through and unsubscribing to junk email is something I never do.  I delete the same Bed Bath and Beyond email every day.

Stretch. I used to be the stretching queen when I did ballet.  I'd say I spent probably an hour stretching throughout the day.  I was ALWAYS stretching my feet, hips, calves, etc.  Now that I'm a "runner," my stretching routine is pretty nonexistent.  If I just took a little bit of time while watching TV at night or after my runs, I think my legs would definitely thank me.

Write your post for Favorite Things on Monday, June 2nd.  I know that this probably takes more than 5 minutes, but I know that Ally and I would LOVE to hear your favorite things for June.

That's all for now!  Who has fun plans for the weekend?

  1. Those Bed Bath and Beyond emails KILL me! But they must not bother me enough for me to take the 2 seconds to scroll to the bottom to unsubscribe haha. The bathroom trick is so smart though. I need to start that one!

  2. Stopping by from the link-up! I love the idea of setting the timer to clean the bathroom. That is the one area of the house I hate cleaning the most. Maybe your idea will help it not seem like such a daunting task! Of course, if I had a bathroom like yours, I might not mind cleaning it. Pretty sure my entire bathroom could fit in your shower! hahaha

  4. This will sound crazy but you should try applying Rain-X to your glass shower doors. My husband had the idea to do this when we first moved in together and could never keep our glass shower doors free of spots. I told him he was nuts but it really works and makes cleaning them a breeze. We can get away with just squeegying the doors after showers and only have to clean the shower doors once a month....another bonus is that cleaning the shower has now become his responsibility ;)

  6. OMG. I'm so with you on backing up my blog! I feel like I would die if I lost it all! So I definitely need to spend some time doing that one! And, I totally do the timer thing too! For like EVERYTHING. I'll set timers for cleaning so that way I know I only have a "set time"! HA. I'm such a child. Oh, and I'm completely infatuated with your bathroom floors! *swoon*

  8. Re: #3, you have GOT to try Unroll.me! I was the same way. I never wanted to unsubscribe because what if I missed a great coupon or sale or something?? But Unroll.me is a game changer, it asks you which of your subscriptions you want to "roll up" and it sends them as one email instead of like... 40.

  11. I am horrible at cleaning up my emails! The 5 minute clean-up timer sounds like a great idea! I'm bad about letting everything pile up for the weekend and then it's so overwhelming. Have a great weekend!

  13. I just can't get over how awesome your bathroom is. And I'm sure that's a weird compliment?? Haha! I love the idea of this post. And I'm totally with you- I have to set a 5 minute alarm to see how much I can get done. :)

    Have a great weekend, friend!

  15. Thanks for sharing these tips! I've never backed up my blog either so I'm definitely putting that on my to-do list! Isn't great how just a quick wipe down of the bathroom makes you feel so much better? I need to get better and doing this every couple of days.

  16. So, I actually feel like setting a 5-min timer is a brilliant idea. This might help me actually clean things.
