A Fresh, Organized Start

It's Friday!  Due to George and I's schedule, Fridays are THE BEST. We can actually hang out and have a date night.

Anyways, it has been a while since I did a Five on Friday linkup, so I figured I'd share five ways I'm planning to have a super organized house.

It is pretty rare that you get the opportunity to really do a overhaul and start fresh with a new house.  Clutter and extra "stuff" gives me anxiety, so I can't wait to do a major purge and only start with the necessities.  I've been looking around Pinterest, and I've found some really good ideas.

Here are 5 ways I plan on organizing our new digs:

GAH!  I'm so excited for this.  I will have a little vanity area to sit and do my hair and makeup.  Yeah, I'm that lazy, I like to sit down while I get ready. So there is a little vanity space between our two sinks that has a long drawer.  I saw some of these pictures on Pinterest, and it made me really excited to get some awesome dividers.  Organization makes me really happy, hahaha.

I know some of these linen closets are a little too perfect, but this is the look I'm going for.  I'm hoping to everything labeled, neatly stacked, and maybe throw in some matching baskets.  I do have a fairly large linen closet in the new house, so I'm excited to make it look nice and pretty.

I've seen these used really often in organization blog posts.  They are such a good way to stow little odds and ends that don't really have homes.  I love the places for the labels on each box so you can remember what is in each container.  I'm hoping to use more and more of these as I'm finding new homes for all of the random little things in our new place.

George is a total cord hoarder, and I have to admit, that it has really come in handy in the past.  Having a giant, tangled mess isn't too helpful.  Currently, I have them all bundled up, but not labeled.  Maybe that will be a project I'll assign to G, since I don't know what half of them are for anyways. :)

I LOVE the look of glass jars on the counter and in the pantry.  I believe a few places online sell them for a discount if you buy them in bulk.  They're really versatile and look so much better than plastic packaging.

  2. I tried to organize my makeup drawer. I even bought an organizer from Bed Bath and Beyond but it's just a jumbled up mess. You've influenced me to get it all tied this weekend! I love the glass jar look too but I bet it's expensive to order all those jars!

  6. Oh you are so smart to start out with an organization plan! Our house is now 4 years old and pretty much anything that didn't start out completely organized and with a home has remained in that state! It's so daunting to "undo" the clutter but starting out fresh is definitely the time to do it! Cute blog!

  11. I love all of these organizing ideas! No fear, I am also a "lazy" one that must sit down while I do my makeup and hair. Haha. :) The storage boxes are great! Especially the ones from Thirty One! So cute! Cord storage is a great idea. I feel like I'm always finding cords in a drawer or cupboard and I have no idea what they are for and I jsut throw them away! The glass jars for a pantry look really nice! I don't think that I could have glass because I'd be afraid of breaking them! :) Have a great weekend and enjoy your date night with George :)

  12. Anthony and I are enjoying our last Friday off together for who knows how long. He starts back to school this week and will be working and going to class from here on out for this semester. We are thinking about having a little date night here at our house tonight, just us and the dogs. I love all these organization ideas!!! I am currently burning all our pictures onto CDs which is taking forever since it's dating all the way back to 2007 and I keep getting distracted looking at the pictures instead of just burning them. But after it is all said and done it will be so nice to have them all backed up and taken off our computers plus less worrying about losing them forever. Have a great Friday!!!!

  21. I love all of it!! I have gotten the organization drawers for my makeup at target and they have been great and really keeps things neat. I am in love with the glass jars in the pantry. I did this for awhile when we had the house, hubs thought I was crazy for taking every snack out of its packaging and storing them individually but I loved it! Looking forward to doing it again in a new house one day!!

  24. Love all this especially the makeup drawer! We just put our house up for sale so I have gone through every room (in our tiny 3 BR house) and de-cluttered and put stuff in plastic bins that are stored in our basement. Hopefully I can keep the house looking nice if we have any showings. I love the prospect of a new house so it'll be nice and organized. Not sure if we're buying or building yet but just gotta get our house sold first!
