Our Europe Vacation

Well hey there! Here are some pictures from our most recent trip.  George took me to Europe for our one year wedding anniversary.  <Best husband ever

We went to Barcelona, then boarded a cruise that traveled to south France and Italy.  We had a wonderful time!

George's traditional pre transatlantic flight beer

DVT prophylaxis.  Aspirin and compression socks. Yeah, this RN is terrified of blood clots.

Lobby of our hotel in Barcelona.

View from our room. We could see the Sagrada Familia.

Gaudi was certainly...uh...creative?

6.5-7? mile run on our anniversary.  George was nice enough to take it easy on me.

Favorite painting ever on our cruise ship

Beach in Cassis, France

Nutella gelato...I died and went to heaven.  *Note the "Schtroumph" (Smurf) flavored gelato.  For some reason, the Smurfs are huge in France.

Hanging out in Bandol, France (1st photobomb)

The drivers in France are almost worse than the drivers in Greece.  Drove me nuts!

George had flowers put in our room for our anniversary.  Such a sweetie! :)

Hagrid!

Before I shoved that cheesecake down my gullet.

View from our balcony.

Villefranche, France

Running in Nice, France

Found a Lemonita (I developed a sick addiction to this stuff in Greece, and I was dying for some more) during our run.  Photobomb #2

George being a silly

Take me back!

Rose in Nice.  Wonderful.

Best salad ever

I could eat this every day.

Cinque Terre, Italy

These poor people couldn't get off their boat.  The waves were too big.

Typical Italian: Speedo, smoking, feathered hair, aloof
These poor people were terrified (and I was taking pictures of them...how rude)

A few brave people walked the plank, but they had to go on and not let anyone else off.

Slept in one of these chairs for a few hours

George being as touristy as possible.

Sunset view from our balcony

Rome

George constantly reading the Rick Steves guidebook

Pantheon

Where we made our wish

Tired and hot in Rome, selfie

This winner/sinner wore a brewery t shirt to the Vatican.

Illegal picture of the Sistine chapel.
Fresh Pizza in Capri, Italy

George and I are immature and this Italian lip balm always made us giggle.

Best wine ever

Closest thing we could get to Gracie while away. :)

Ran in to Gene Keady while in the Barcelona airport.

Where are some of your favorite vacation spots?

My favorite vacation spot is Kauai, Hawaii. Have been lucky enough to travel there twice... And hoping to go back someday! Love how beautiful and lush is it there.

  9. I LOVE Barcelona! I can't wait to go back! And don't worry, I wore flip flops to the Vatican and one of them broke while I was looking up at the Sistine Chapel so I'm sure that means a one way ticket straight down!

  11. Stumbled upon your blog on the 5 on Friday and... we must have been on the same cruise?!!? Except husband & I went in May for our 1 year anni. Also... freaky, but I have those exact.same compression socks! And I wear them for flights all.the.time! I'm not an RN but work in Healthcare Administration and my friend who is a flight nurse scared the heck outta me about blood clots! Also, I used to live in Fort Wayne and ran A TON while there (I had a great group of running partners - I miss them so much!). Pleased to "meet" you Emily! I'll be following!
