Fall Haul- Cosmetics

Hello everyone!  As a follow-up to yesterday's post, I am doing a "cosmetics" Fall Haul.  Like my clothing picks, these are definitely affordable.  I use mostly MAC products on a daily basis, but I'm always trying new drugstore brands as well.  Some of the items below are from Sephora, but in a smaller, cheaper size.  Why spring for the large if you haven't even tried it yet?

Anyways, here are my fall picks:

1.) Benefit- They're Real! Mascara

I'm a huge mascara girl.  I'll stick to one for a few months, then totally switch to another.  I can't help the feeling that there is always something better out there.  Lately, I've been obsessed with Covergirl Clump Crusher, but this mascara gives it a run for its money.  It makes your lashes long, separated, and it has a spikey ball thing on the end to get the little lashes.

2.) Glam Glow Mask

I've been DYING to try this mask after seeing that gross picture on Pinterest (example here).  This stuff is supposed to suck the dirt and oil right out of your pores.  The down side, I wasn't willing to drop $70 at Sephora on a product that I hadn't tried.  The upside, they now sell a smaller size!  I picked up a 0.5 oz size for $19.  Maybe I'll do a review later?

3.) Urban Decay- De Slick Makeup Setting Spray

This stuff is wonderful for hot, sticky summer air.  After you're done doing your makeup, spray a few sprays on your face (from an arm's length away).  It helps keep your makeup on and grease off of your face.  This is perfect for a 12 hour shift at work.  I don't start looking like a tired, grumpy hag until about hour 10 now. :)

4.) Sonia Kashuk- Blending Sponge

I honestly haven't tried this yet.  I was too cheap to spring for the Beauty Blender that I've been seeing everywhere lately, so I went for the Target version.  I plan on using this for special occasions where I spend a little more time on makeup.  Most days, I just use my fingers, so I'm interested to see if this thing really works.

5.) Sephora- Primal Instincts Eyeshadow Palette

Holy moly, I got this for $28.  There are 14 colors, and each shadow is a decent size.  Some shades are shimmery and a few are matte.  This palette has a ton of fall colors that work for day and night.  I still can't get over the price.  LOVE.

6.) L'Oreal- Magic Lumi Highlighter

Spoiler alert, this is going on my next favorite things list.  This is, by far, my favorite thing on this post today.  I LOVE this stuff.  You just click the bottom, and a little bit of the product squirts out onto the brush.  I put it in a triangle shape under my eyes, and it covers dark circles SO well.  It's a wonderful product if you're just getting into highlight and contour and don't want to look like a freak if you do it wrong.  Seriously, go get you some!

7.) Too Faced- Tan Without the Twinkle Bronzer

Ok, let me start off by saying that this bronzer smells like chocolate.  It smells SO awesome.  I got it in a smaller size at Sephora that comes with a pretty high quality brush.  This stuff is a great matte bronzer that gives you a hint of color, but not a summer tan look.  Perfect for fall when your skin tone is a little lighter.

8.) Urban Decay- 24/7 Eye Pencil in Perversion

Best eyeliner ever.  It goes on really creamy and blend-able.  I put mine on and smudge it a little with a stiffer, flat brush.  It truly doesn't budge.  I also have kind of sensitive eyes, and some of the heavy duty long lasting stuff makes my eyes puffy, but not this stuff.  This is definitely a must have!

Alright ladies (and gentlemen?), that's all I have for today.

What are some of your fall beauty must haves?

  1. I keep hearing so many good things about They're Real mascara! I definitely need to try it! And that glow mask sounds exactly what I need. I have super oily skin. And after developing horrible dark circles under my eyes from working night shift I need to try that Loreal highlighter. These are all great finds! Thanks for the tips!

  2. I love seeing and hearing about new products. I have the beauty blender and love it, making your makeup go on so much smoother. Be sure and wet it first then squeeze out the water. Amazing!

  3. I've been looking for a good makeup setter. Thanks to the tip. I've been using good, ol' fashioned hair spray (so bad for your skin)!

  4. I got the They're Real mascara as a sample in a sephora purchase and I love it! The first time I used it I was like "daaaannnnnnng!" Next time I have to purchase some mascara this will be it!

  5. I don't care for the benefit mascara at all. I have received a trial size with stuff from sephora, and tried it more than once. Everytime it transfers to my upper eyelids. My lifds are a tad hooded (not a lot), but I look up a lot in lectures to the screens. It transfers up to right below my brow. IT IS AWFUL! Be careful with it because the times I've tried it, I didn't realize that. I looked goofy.

  6. I am also a nurse and would love to see what you do makeup wise. I don't like going bare faced but don't want to look too "made up". Love your blog!!

  7. I LOVE the Benefit mascara - I received it as a birthday gift from Sephora and love it! I also love Urban Decay eyeshadow primer and the Naked 2 palette (perfect neutrals!). I'd love to try the Primal Instincts palette - I love purples.

PS - Just wanted to let you know that I've nominated you for Liebster Award. It's a peer to peer "recognition", so to speak. :) If you'd like to participate, check out http://www.coffeescarvesandrunningshoes.com/2013/09/why-you-should-connect-with-other-bloggers.html

  8. I am a huge mascara girl too. I always switch through mascaras every month or so. That mask is so neat. I may have to see if they carry it nearby.
