August Goals

Hey guys! It's the beginning of the month, and I'm all about starting off on the right foot. Part of the reason that I started this blog was to put my goals out there and stay accountable. So far, I've thrown out some running goals, but I have some short term goals I'd like to share as well.

1.)  Read The Great Gatsby and at least 2 other books this month

I've been dying to see the movie, but I can't let myself see it before I read the book. I've had it sitting on my nightstand for weeks now, and I'm ready to get that puppy read. I'm a big vacation reader (I try to read a book every day or two), so I'm open to suggestions for good, summer reads!

2.)  Run at least 20 miles/week

I may have a girl crush on her legs and want them transplanted onto my body.
I want 20 to be my minimum, but maybe get up to 25? Slowly increasing my mileage has been my plan to stay injury free, but it's time to up my game.

3.)  Go to weights class at least once a week

Same crush on her arms
Weights workouts are something that I am terrible about! I have free weights that just sit on my fireplace, so I have to be in a class setting to actually get anything done. I know that weights help with running, but it's just a matter of getting my butt out of bed in the morning to get it done.

4.)  Keep up with housework

I'm a binge cleaner. I wait until our house is a total mess, and then I spend hours cleaning all in one day. I've pinned a ton of cleaning schedules on Pinterest, but so far... they haven't been put to use.

5.) Stretch!

I hate stretching. I used to be a ballet dancer, and all my flexibility is looong gone. When I'm done running, I'd prefer to take my shoes off, drink some chocolate milk, and lay around. I need to be much more disciplined about stretching before I hurt myself.

6.) Stand up straight

Hunchy Huncherson and her bored looking husband :)
Wearing a  stethoscope around my neck all day at work pulls my shoulders forward and makes my profile look like a question mark. Watching me stand up at the alter on my wedding day all hunched forward was a wakeup call that I need to stand up!

7.) Don't stew over decisions that have already been made

With building a house, as I've said before, there are endless decisions. You choose details that you didn't even know existed. When I lay in bed at night, I go over decision after decision, questioning if it was the right choice. I need to step back, know that it is going to be beautiful in the end, and not make myself crazy.

Alright, so there they are.  Lets hope I stick to it!

What are some of your goals for August?

  1. I agree completely about the cleaning. I currently have 3+ loads of laundry that needs to be put away today. Hmph. My goals for this month are to stay on top of filing and new schedules at work since school starts back this month.

  2. Through a lot of blog stalking I have come across your blog and I love it! Love your goals! I am so awful at stretching before and after work outs! Great goal I want to add to my list!

  3. The Great Gatsby is a great read! I reread it recently and feel in love with it. The new movie is also awesome
