It's the first day of August, and that means... Favorite Things! (Can you seriously believe it's August already? Where has he summer gone? Kids in Indy are already back in school. Yuck!)
So, let's get right to it. Here are a few of my favorite things for August.
1.) Zoom Groom
It's hot outside, and my dog is shredding like crazy! The same company that makes the Kong chew toys came out with a dog brush. It is the same, rubbery material of a Kong, but is gentle on the dog's skin and fur too. This thing is like a magnet for dog fur, and you will be shocked at how much comes off of your pup. I have to brush Gracie outside, because the fur is literally flying right off of her. These are available at Petco and Amazon.com.
2.) Dasani Drops: Pineapple Coconut
When George and I went to Hawaii in January, I developed a sick addiction to pina coladas. The fresh pineapple made them ten times better than any pina colada I've had in Indiana. The problem with this delicious drink is that it is TERRIBLE for you. I would cite some nutritional info, but it would just depress me. Anyways, these Dasani drops are so yummy. They have a really fresh taste, and you don't need more than 2 squirts or so for each water bottle. Sure, there are a ton of chemicals and artificial sweeteners to make this have zero calories, but I think, in moderation, it's just fine.
3.) Contigo Water Bottle
I became a fan of Contigos through their coffee mugs. (Seriously, check them out!) These water bottles are my favorite! I have a smaller size (pictured) and a larger 24 oz. These bottles are always sealed until you press a button to open the spout when you're taking a drink. They also have a handy lock feature, so you can throw it in your bag and not worry about the button accidentally being pressed. I bought mine at Target, but you can also find them on Amazon.com.
4.) Summer Scarves
The evenings in Indy have been a little chilly lately. I love sheer, gauzy scarves to dress up a plain t-shirt or tank. Old Navy and Charming Charlie have some really cute ones right now.
5.) Target Mossimo TankI am SO happy that I found these tanks. They are so versatile! They are thin, but not too thin, racerback style that is long enough, but not too long, and looser around the middle...but (you guessed it) not too loose. The best part? They're only $10 a piece, and there are a ton of colors. I have some that I run in, and some I just wear with jeans. You can throw one of these on with some white jeans and a cute, bold necklace, and you're ready to go. Get your booty to Target and pick these up before they run out!
As I mentioned in my previous post, we are moving and building a house! This website has become a must. It is very similar to Pinterest, but has better search options. Many of the "pins" tell you the exact names of the finishes and accessories in the picture. We had to design our house in a hurry, so being able to find many pictures of what I wanted was so helpful when meeting with the designers.
7.) Covergirl Clump Crusher Mascara
I'm in LOVE with this mascara. I first saw it on one of EleventhGorgeous's videos and decided to try it out. The brush is curved, so it helps lashes stay curled, and this mascara glides on so smoothly coat after coat. No clumping! Love it.
8.) Below Deck on Bravo
This show is my new guilty pleasure. It is Housewives meets Real World meets the movie Fool's Gold (minus the looking for treasure part). Below Deck is a reality show that gives viewers a behind the scenes look at what it is like to be a yachting crew. They take the super rich guests out on charters and have to deal with their over the top, ridiculous demands, but in between charters, they party hard. Below Deck is on Monday nights on Bravo.
9.) Pro Compression Socks
I just recently got my very first pair of compression socks. I love to wear these after I do a long run, or while working a 12 hour shift. I can definitely tell a difference while working. My feet don't ache as bad as the end of the day, and I don't have "cankles" as bad. I got George a pair of these for his birthday, we'll see if he actually wears them. I plan on wearing them on the flight to Spain. Ain't nobody got time for blood clots from a long plane ride!
Alright guys, that's all I have. Now I need to know...
What are some of your favorite things for August?
