6 Things About Me

Hey guys!  It's Friday, and I've been tagged by Katelyn at Imperfect Perfection for this fun, "6 Things" tag.

1.  Where do you see yourself in 5 years?

In five years, I hope to be living in Peoria in our new house.  Hopefully at that point it will be fully decorated. (A task that is daunting right now).  I hope to have a kiddo, maybe two by that point.  I don’t know how much I’ll be working if I have a few kids, but I hope that I am still doing something related to nursing, at least part time.  In five years, I’ll be spending my last year in my 20’s, so hopefully I won’t be upset about turning 30.

2.  What is something you thought you would never do or accomplish but have?

I definitely think that running could fall under this category.  I have tried to pick up running a few times in the past, but it never stuck.  Running a mile or two was miserable, and I couldn’t imagine how anyone would ever run for enjoyment.  At the beginning of the year, I could run 15 minutes without having to stop and walk, and this past weekend I ran 13.1 miles.  I have been feeling like my progress is slowing lately, but when you step back and look at the big picture, I’m very happy with how far I’ve come.

Picture I took on my 13.1 mile run last Saturday.  It was so beautiful, and I was all "zen runner."

3. What blogs are you loving right now that have under 200 followers?

The Lady Okie (206, but who is counting?)

4.  What is your best advice you have received about blogging?

When I first started this blog, I read a lot about how to make your blog intriguing and how to get traffic.  Now, I’ve realized that I don’t care that much writing what others want to hear.  I started this blog to keep my friends and family updated on what was going on in my life.  I knew that we were moving, so I wanted create a place where people who cared could come check up on what I’m up to.

A great piece of advice is to write what you feel like writing, and don’t write what others want to read about.  My favorite blogs have a ton of random posts and aren’t all about fashion, fitness, or home design.  They have a mix of everything.  Pigeon holing yourself into one category can work to your detriment in my opinion.

5. If you had to be stuck in one season for the rest of your life what would it be?

I think that I would have to pick summer.  I love the sunshine and warm weather.  Summery tanks, dresses and flip flops are my favorite things to wear, and you can’t get away with those in spring or fall.  There is too much rain in the spring, and the fall gets cold too early.

6. What is something you love about yourself?
I can be in a good mood pretty much all of the time.  I choose to be happy and not waste time on things that make me unhappy.

Pick 6 to answer for yourself:

1. Where do you see yourself in 5 years?
2.  If you have 3 wishes what would they be?
3.  What is something you thought you would never do or accomplish but have?
4. What blogs are you loving right now that have under 200 followers?
5.  What is your best advice you have received about blogging?
6. If you could only take one thing to an uninhabited environment what would you take (think Naked and Afraid)?
7.  Who is the most influential person in your life?
8. Tell us something we don't know about you.
9.  If you could open your own business what kind of good or service would you provide?  What would you business be like?
10. If you had to be stuck in one season for the rest of your life what would it be?

  2. I completely agree about running. I would never believe 5 years ago that I would be interested in running a marathon. I also love your blogging advice. I have to remember that my blog is about me not about what others think.

  3. I love this! I love your blog advice...getting caught up in followers, etc. isn't the way to go. I also love that your 5 year plan is similar to mine, can't want to watch each others little lives evolve through our blogs. :)
